World Series on vuosittainen ammattilaisbaseballin, Major League Baseballin loppuottelusarja Yhdysvalloissa ja Kanadassa. Vuodesta 1903 alkaen siinä ovat kohdanneet kahden suurimman liigan – National League ja American League – voittajat. Sarja on jäänyt pelaamatta vain 1904 boikotin ja 1994 pelaajien lakon vuoksi. Koska ottelut pelataan myöhään syksystä, on sarjaa nimitetty myös nimellä Fall Classic.

Vuosina 1882–1890 myös American Associationin mestari pelasi National Leaguen voittajan kanssa vastaavanlaisia sarjoja. Näitä pidetään enemmän näytösluontoisina tapahtumina ja ne olivat epäjärjestäytyneempiä kuin nykyiset sarjat. Sarjojen pituudet myös vaihtelivat aina kolmesta viiteentoista otteluun ja sarjat myös päättyivät usein tasatilanteeseen. Nykyinen World Series on pelattu yleensä paras seitsemästä -järjestelmällä, poikkeuksena kaudet 1903 ja 1919–1921, jolloin pelattiin järjestelmällä paras yhdeksästä.

Vuoden 2014 sarjaan Kansas City Royals selvisi voittamalla kaikki kahdeksan aikaisempaa postseason -otteluaan. Sarjassa San Francisco Giants kuitenkin osoittautui paremmaksi niukasti otteluvoitoin 4–3. World Series voitto oli Giantsille kaikkiaan kahdeksas. Toisen kerran World Seriesin historiassa molemmat joukkueet olivat selvinneet pudotuspeleihin villillä kortilla. Aiemmin vastaavaa oli tapahtunut kaudella 2002, jolloin Giants oli sarjassa häviävänä osapuolena.

Vuonna 2016 Chicago Cubs onnistui voittamaan mestaruuden. Edellisestä Cubsin mestaruudesta ennätti kulua ennätysmäiset 108 vuotta. Cubs onnistui kääntämään sarjan voitokseen 1–3 -tappioasemasta.

Vuonna 2019 päättyivät ensi kertaa kaikki ottelut seitsemän ottelun sarjassa vierasvoittoon.^[1]

1882 ottelut olivat epävirallisia näytösotteluita, joita ei lasketa postseason otteluiksi.
1885 2. ottelu keskeytyi, kun St. Louis jätti kentän kesken ottelun tilanteessa 4-5.^[2]
1887 pelattiin kaikkiaan 15 ottelua. Voitto ratkesi 11. pelissä, kun Detroit siirtyi 8-3 johtoon.
1887–1890 kilpailusta käytettiin nimeä Dauvray Cup näyttelijätär Helen Dauvrayn mukaan tämän lahjoitettua kilpailuun kiertopalkinnon.^[3]^[4]
