Major League Baseball -kausi 1889 käsitti kaksi erillistä liigaa. Vuodesta 1876 toiminut National League ja 1882 aloittanut American Association. Kauden päätteeksi NL:n ja AA:n mestarit kohtasivat yhdeksän ottelun sarjassa, jossa New York Giants voitti Brooklyn Bridegroomsin 6–3.
