Desmond Child

Desmond Child (s. John Charles Barrett, 28. lokakuuta 1953) on yhdysvaltalainen muusikko, lauluntekijä ja tuottaja. Hän perusti Desmond Child & Rouge -yhtyeen vuonna 1975. Suurempaa suosiota Child on saanut lauluntekijänä ja hän on ollut mukana säveltämässä useita hittikappaleita. Hän on työskennellyt useiden suosittujen artistien kanssa – muun muassa Cherin, Michael Boltonin, Aerosmithin, Bon Jovin, Alice Cooperin, Kissin ja Ricky Martinin.

Tunnettuja Childin säveltämiä kappaleita ovat muun muassa ”Poison” (Alice Cooper), ”Livin’ on a Prayer” (Bon Jovi), ”Livin’ la Vida Loca” (Ricky Martin), ”I Was Made for Lovin’ You” (Kiss) ja erityisesti Suomessa ”Livin’ in a World Without You” (The Rasmus).

Desmond Childin ura on jatkunut lähes 40 vuoden ajan. 2000-luvun tuotantoja ovat olleet Meat Loafin albumi Bat out of Hell III: The Monster Is Loose, jolle hän teki myös lauluja, Scorpionsin Humanity: Hour 1, Mariah Careyn uusi albumi sekä The Rasmuksen syyskuussa 2008 julkaistu Black Roses.
