The Pogues

The Pogues oli brittiläinen punkvaikutteinen folk rock -yhtye, joka oli erityisen suosittu 1980- ja 1990-luvuilla. Sen perustivat Shane MacGowan (laulu), James Fearnley (haitari) ja Spider Stacy (tinapilli) vuonna 1982. Poliittiset teemat saivat sen muistuttamaan myös The Clashia. Soitinvalikoima taas toi tyypillistä irlantilaista kansanmusiikin tunnelmaa. Myöhemmin yhtyeeseen tuli lisää jäseniä ja enemmän sähköisiä soittimia. Yhtyeen suurin hitti on joululaulu ”Fairytale of New York” vuodelta 1987.

The Pogues esiintymässä Brixtonissa joulukuussa 2004.
