Kuvaus
English: Port bow view of Australian submarine HMAS K9 at sea. Servicemen can be seen on deck and in the conning tower. This patrol submarine was one of three 'K' Class (Koloniën) submarines built at the yard of K M de Shelde of Flushing, Holland, and was commissioned into the Royal Netherlands Navy (RNN) on 21 June 1923 as K-IX. RNN K-IX was stationed at the Surabaya Submarine Base in 1942 and with the imminent capture of the base by the Japanese, RNN K-IX sailed to Fremantle via the Alas Straight and was sent to Sydney for servicing. In 1943 she was offered to the Royal Australian Navy (RAN) to aid in anti-submarine training.
Nederlands: Foto van de Australische onderzeeër HMAS K9 op volle zee. Deze onderzeeër was één van de drie op de Scheldewerf gebouwde Hr. Ms. K IX klasse en is op 21 juni 1923 als K-IX gestationeerd op de onderzeeër-basis op Soerabaja. In 1942 tijdens de op handen zijnde aanval van Japan voer de RNN K-IX via Straat Alas tussen Lombok en Soembawa naar Freemantle.
