English: Billy the Kid (1859-1881) presented Henry Hoyt with a sorrel horse, and wrote a bill of sale for 75 dollars to make it look like an actual purchase. No money changed hands. Witnessers were Howard and McMasters, the proprietors of the store in Tascosa. (Sources: Michael Wallis: Billy the Kid: The Endless Ride, p. 224, and Henry F. Hoyt: A Frontier Doctor) Text: "Tascosa, Texas, Thursday, Oct 24th 1878. Know all persons by these presents that I do hereby sell and deliver to Henry F. Hoyt one Sorrel Horse branded BB on left hip and other indistinct branded on shoulders, for the sum of seventyfive $ dollars in hand received. W H Bonney. Witness Jas E McMasters, Geo J Howard."
