The Waterboys
The Waterboys on skotlantilainen yhtye Edinburghista Isosta-Britanniasta. Yhtyeen kokoonpano on vaihdellut. Muun muassa saksofonisti Anthony Thistlethwaite (1982–1991), viulisti Steve Wickham (1985–1990, 2000–), kosketinsoittaja Karl Wallinger (1983–1985) ja kosketinsoittaja ja huilisti Richard Naiff (1999–2008) ovat olleet mukana yhtyeessä.[1][2]

Opiskeltuaan collegessa englantia ja filosofiaa Mike Scott, joka oli entinen Another Pretty Face -yhtyeen jäsen, perusti yhtyeen yhdessä multi-instrumentalisti Anthony Thistlethwaiten ja rumpali Kevin Wilkinsonin kanssa vuonna 1983.[1]
Yhtyeen ja Mike Scottin musiikissa on ollut erilaisia suuntauksia, kuten alkuaikojen ”Big Music”, Fisherman’s Blues -albumin new folk ja kelttiläismusiikki, Dream Harder -albumin elektroninen hard rock ja Out of All This Blue -albumin country-, R&B- ja hip hop -vaikutteet.[1]
