Lindisfarne (yhtye)
Lindisfarne on brittiläinen folk rock -yhtye. Se perustettiin nimellä Downtown Faction, muutti sitten nimensä muotoon Brethren ja otti lopulta käyttöön vakiintuneen nimensä Lindisfarnen saaren mukaan. Lindisfarnen suurimpia hittejä olivat ”Lady Eleanor” (albumilta Nicely Out of Tune, 1970) ja ”Meet Me on the Corner” (Fog on the Tyne, 1971).[1] Yhtyeen alkuperäisiin jäseniin kuuluivat Alan Hull (1945–1995), Simon Cowe (s. 1948), Ray Jackson (s. 1948), Rod Clements (s. 1947) ja Ray Laidlaw (s. 1948).
Lindisfarne sai vuonna 1970 levytyssopimuksen Charisma Recordsilta. Debyyttialbumi Nicely Out of Tune julkaistiin samana vuonna, ja sen seuraaja Fog on the Tyne osoittautui vuonna 1971 kaupalliseksi menestykseksi.[1] Yhtye vieraili Turun Ruisrockissa elokuussa 1972[2].
Yhtye oli suosionsa huipulla 1970-luvulla, mutta jatkoi uraansa myöhemminkin ja yhä keulahahmo Alan Hullin kuoleman jälkeen vuonna 1995[1].
Vuonna 1990 Lindisfarne nousi lyhyesti uuteen suosioon duetolla "Fog on the Tyne Revisited" jalkapalloilija Paul Gascoignen kanssa.
