Lawrence Roberts
Lawrence Gilman Roberts (21. joulukuuta 1937 Westport, Connecticut – 26. joulukuuta 2018 Redwood City, Kalifornia) oli yhdysvaltalainen tietojenkäsittelytieteilijä, joka johti ARPANETin kehitystä.[3][4] Robert Taylor rekrytoi Robertsin ARPAan.[5]

Roberts ja Thomas Marrill tekivät kokeellista työtä Q-32 ja TX-2 tietokoneiden linkittämiseksi toisiinsa pakettikytkennällä.[6][7]
Wesley A. Clarkin mielestä Robertsin alkuperäinen suunnitelma nurinniskoin ja ehdotti Interface Message Processor (IMP) minitietokoneiden käyttöä.[8]
ARPANETin projektijohdossa toiminut Roberts esitti lokakuussa 1967 paperin nimeltä Multiple Computer Networks and Intercomputer Communication, joka tiivisti suunnitelman ARPANETin rakentamiseen.[9][10]
ARPAn jälkeen Roberts perusti viisi yhtiötä: Telenet, NetExpress, ATM Systems, Caspian Networks ja Anagran.[11][12]
