Albert Heath

Albert ”Tootie” Heath (31. toukokuuta 1935 Philadelphia, Pennsylvania – 3. huhtikuuta 2024) oli yhdysvaltalainen jazzrumpali. Hänen tyylinsä oli lähinnä hard bop. Muutettuaan New Yorkiin vuonna 1957 hän debytoi levytyksellä John Coltranen kanssa. Hän esiintyi myös J. J. Johnsonin yhtyeen kanssa (1958–1960) ja Jazztetissa (1960–1961). Vuonna 1961 hän teki yhteistyötä Cedar Waltonin ja Bobby Timmonsin triojen kanssa. Hän levytti paljon Riverside Recordsille.

Albert Heath

Asuessaan Euroopassa vuosina 1965–1968 Heath työskenteli usein Kenny Drewin ja Dexter Gordonin kanssa. Palattuaan synnyinmaahansa Heath soitti Herbie Hancockin sekstetissä 1968–1969 ja Yusef Lateefin kanssa 1970–1974. Vietettyään vielä yhden vuoden Euroopassa hän liittyi Heath Brothers -yhtyeeseen, jossa toimi 1975–1978. Tämän jälkeen Heath asettui Los Angelesiin ja jatkoi levytysuraansa Riverside Reunion Bandin kanssa.

Heath kuoli leukemiaan 3. huhtikuuta 2024.
