Richard Boyd

Richard Boyd (s. 19. toukokuuta 1942 Washington (DC), Yhdysvallat – 20. helmikuuta 2021) oli yhdysvaltalainen filosofi, joka oli erikoistunut tieteenfilosofiaan. Hän väitteli filosofian tohtoriksi Massachusetts Institute of Technologystä (MIT) vuonna 1970. Boyd vaikutti suurimman osan urastaan Cornellin yliopistossa, mutta hän opetti myös Harvardin ja Michiganin yliopistoissa sekä Kalifornian yliopistossa Berkeleyssä.

Boyd tunnetaan tieteellisen realismin kannattajana. Boyd on osallistunut myös naturalistista metaetiikkaa edustavan niin kutsutun Cornellin realismin muotoiluun.

Boyd teki väitöskirjansa ”A recursion-theoretic characterization of the ramified analytical hierarchy” Hilary Putnamin ohjaamana. Se oli MIT:n ensimmäisiä filosofian alalla.
