NHL-kausi 1949–1950

NHL-kausi 1949–1950 oli National Hockey Leaguen historian 33. kausi. Sen aikana kuusi NHL-joukkuetta pelasi kukin 70 runkosarjaottelua.[1][2] Stanley Cupin voitti Detroit Red Wings, joka kukisti finaalisarjassa New York Rangersin otteluvoitoin 4–3, kun Stanley Cupin ratkaisevassa pelissä Pete Babando teki Stanley Cupin ratkaisevan jatkoaikamaalin. Kyseessä oli Red Wingsin seurahistorian neljäs Stanley Cup -mestaruus.[3][4] New York Rangers sai viimeisen kerran jaetun O’Brien Trophyn, joka oli vuodesta 1939 lähtien ollut loppuottelusarjan hävinneelle joukkueelle kuuluva palkinto. Ensimmäisen kerran O’Brien Trophy oli jaettu vuonna 1910, jolloin se oli NHA-liigan mestaruuspokaali.[5]

Runkosarjan piste- ja syöttöpörssin sekä Art Ross Trophyn voitti Detroit Red Wingsia edustanut Ted Lindsay.[1] Lindsay keräsi 69 ottelussa yhteensä 78 tehopistettä, joista 23 oli maaleja ja 55 syöttöpisteitä.[6] Maalipörssin voitti Montreal Canadiensin Maurice Richard 43 osumallaan.[1]

Hart Trophy myönnettiin New York Rangersin maalivahtina toimineelle Chuck Raynerille.[7][8] Sen sijaan Vezina Trophyn sai Canadiensin Bill Durnan, koska hänen joukkueensa oli päästänyt vähiten maaleja runkosarjassa, mikä oli tuolloin kyseisen palkinnon myöntämiskriteeri.[9] Parhaalle tulokkaalle myönnettävän Calder Memorial Trophyn vei puolestaan Boston Bruins -maalivahti Jack Gelineau.[1][10] Pudotuspelien pistepörssin voittaja oli New York Rangersin Pentti Lund. Hän teki 12 pudotuspeliottelussa 11 tehopistettä, joista 6 oli maaleja ja 5 maaliin johtaneita syöttöjä.[11]
