John Abercrombie (kitaristi)

John Abercrombie (16. joulukuuta 1944 Port Chester, New York – 22. elokuuta 2017 Cortlandt Manor, New York) oli yhdysvaltalainen jazzkitaristi.[1] Hän teki yhteistyötä muiden muassa Billy Cobhamin, Jack DeJohnetten, Michael Breckerin, Randy Breckerin ja Jan Garbarekin kanssa ja johti omia kokoonpanojaan. Hänen uransa kattoi yli nelikymmentä vuotta, ja hän teki lähes viisikymmentä albumia.

Abercrombie syntyi Port Chesterissä, New Yorkin osavaltiossa, ja kasvoi Greenwichissä, Connecticutissa. Hän aloitti kitaransoiton 14-vuotiaana ja valmistui myöhemmin Berklee College of Musicista. Hän aloitti 1970-luvulla levytyksen ECM-levymerkillä.[2]

Abercrombie esiintyi Suomessa ainakin Pori Jazz -festivaaleilla 1998, April Jazzissa Espoossa 2002 ja Keitelejazz-tapahtumassa 2005.[3][4][5]
