William Lane Craig

yhdysvaltalainen uskonnonfilosofi ja teologi

William Lane Craig (s. 23. elokuuta 1949) on yhdysvaltalainen uskonnonfilosofi ja teologi, joka kuuluu nykyajan huomattavimpiin kristinuskon apologeettoihin. Hän on pyrkinyt todistamaan Jumalan olemassaoloa filosofisesti ja puolustanut julkisesti uskoa Jeesuksen ruumiilliseen ylösnousemukseen. Hän on julkaissut lukuisia kirjoja ja osallistunut lukuisiin julkisiin väittelyihin.[1]

Illinoisin Peoriassa syntynyt ja Keokukissa, Iowassa kasvanut Craig tuli kristityksi hänen ollessaan teini-ikäinen. Hän valmistui Illinoisin Wheaton Collegesta ja Trinity Evangelical Divinity Schoolista. Hän sai tohtorinarvon filosofiasta Birminghamin yliopistolta (1977) ja teologiasta Münchenin yliopistolta (1984). Hän on työskennellyt Trinity Evangelical Divinity Schoolissa, Westmont Collegessa, Leuvenin katolisessa yliopistossa ja Biolan yliopiston Talbot School of Theologyssa.lähde?

Craig on esittänyt niin sanotun kosmologisen Kalam-argumentin Jumalan olemassaolon puolesta. Hän on älykästä suunnittelua kannattavan Discovery Instituten jäsen.[2]

Craig on kritisoinut sitä, että yli puolet evankelikalistien papistosta uskoo universumin olevan alle 10 000 vuotta vanha ja on kutsunut tätä ”suunnattoman kiusalliseksi” ja ”tieteellisesti hölynpölyksi”.[3] Evoluutiosta Craig on todennut, että pitää Raamatun luomiskertomusta kuvaannollisena ja siten yhteensopivana biologisten evoluutioteorioiden kanssa. Näin ollen Craig sanoo, että elämän alkuperä ei ole hänelle raamatullinen kysymys, vaan tieteellinen kysymys ja on avoin seuraamaan todisteita sinne minne ne johtavat. Tällä hetkellä Craig ei näe yhtäkään teoriaa riittävänä selittämään elämän alkuperää.lähde?
