Ali syntyi Long Islandilla, New Yorkin osavaltiossa. Hänen äitinsä on Panamasta ja isänsä Trinidad ja Tobagosta; hän puhuu sujuvasti sekä englantia että espanjaa.

Ali esiintyy will.i.amin laulussa ”Yes We Can”. Hän on julkaissut sooloartistina albumin Kiss the Sky (1998), joka singleineen oli menestys listoilla niin Yhdysvalloissa kuin Euroopassakin.
